Most Teams Ask "Why?" When They Miss. How Many Ask When They're Ahead?

February 2, 2026  |  Chuck Kitchen, Founder GENREV!™

As early in the year as February, most organizations are busy auditing January misses. While that is necessary, the real depth comes from applying that same rigor to your wins.

Early-year results are often a volatile mix of momentum, timing, and luck. If you do not pause to understand the "Why" in both directions, you are not managing a business; you are riding a wave you do not yet understand.

Consider:

  • Is it repeatable? Did January's success come from a scalable process you can build on for the rest of the year?
  • Is it temporary? Was a strong month simply a lucky pull-in or a timing fluke?

Whether you are a CEO looking for predictability or an individual contributor looking for consistency, you have to understand the mechanics behind the movement.

Do not wait for a difficult month to start looking under the hood.

Question: Is there a win you had recently that you are not 100% sure you can repeat?
